| How to use Webmail?
|
|
Go to http://webmail.ulb.ac.be/.
enter your E-mail address (E-mail) and your password
(Password) and click "Login to Webmail". You can use your E-mail address
(example: mjansens@ulb.ac.be), or your mail-alias (example: Michel.Jansens@ulb.ac.be).
Once you are connected,
you will find the list of messages that are in your mailbox in the top part of the window. Click on any email in the list and its contents will be shown in the bottom part of the window. a menu allows you to delete, reply, redirect, forward or print the message.
To delete (or move to another folder) a group of emails in one go, select each email in the list by checking in the little box in front of it then click on "Delete" or select a mailbox in the "Move To" selection (above the list). You can also select all the list at once by clicking on the to checkbox above the first email in the list.
The toolbar gives you access to the following:
-
In: show incoming mail
-
Out: show (Webmail) sent emails
-
Folders:
create, delete, show mail folders
-
Compose Mail:
compose and send an e-mail
-
Address Book: manage your contact's email addresses
-
Tools: various tools (change password, signature, antispam activation, forward/vacation,...)
You can adapt the relative size of the top and bottom parts of Webmail's window by dragging the small line between the two sections, or by clicking on the top right icons to maximize, minimize or center the parts.
It is possible to send a message to many recipients by putting more email addresses in the 'To:','Cc:' or 'Bcc' fields. adresses should be separated the with a comma (',') (the Bcc addresses are not show in the recipients mailboxes).
Notice:
-
Messages that you have read with Eudora or Outlook Express (usually configured to use POP) are transferred to your PC or Macintosh and are removed from the POP server; they will not be available in Webmail.
-
Incoming mail older than 3 months are delete automatically on the central mail server. To prevent this, move older emails to another mail folders.
-
If you get the message "Quotas exceeded", you probably have to much data on the server. You should delete some older emails from your folders (eg Out).
-
Change password and Forward/Vacation functions are only working on central the email server's (mach) accounts
